Sartoria Columbia; in a city traditionally known for empty suits, existing as a haberdasher takes a certain level of persistence.  The monuments, the tourists, the grand curves of our nation’s capital as seen while flying into Reagan — these are a facade to a town that locals know for tree lined, cobblestone streets, and now, intense and awesome urban development.

Dressing well here is more of a personal choice than it is a necessity.  But those who know realize the importance of presence, both in mind and appearance.  Thinking through issues, from beginning to end (and in that order), makes a big difference whether you are positioning for a coup or running for office.  While some say you should never judge a book by it’s cover, often times it can save you a lot of time.

So if knowledge is power, then it would make sense to invest in a strong, well-appointed wardrobe.  Not too flashy as to draw attention, but not drab and easily forgotten, either.  A well rounded mind helps those who know, but a smart look can have more effect on those that don’t.  Just ask any illiterate wearing a nice pair of round, tortoise shell glasses.
